Hello Everyone ,
I’m trying to optimise my home network configuration right now, and I would really appreciate some assistance from the experienced people on this forum. I’ve tried a few things and done some research, but I’m still running into problems that I can’t seem to figure out on my own.
This is my set-up right now:
- Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router
- Modem: SB6190 Arris Surfboard
- Switch: TL-SG108 from TP-Link
- 3 PCs, 2 smart TVs, 4 cellphones, 2 tablets, a NAS, & numerous smart home appliances (such as cameras, thermostats, and smart lights) are among the connected gadgets.
Problems I’m Having:
- Intermittent Connectivity: Occasionally, a few of my devices—particularly the smart home appliances—lose connectivity. Even when the devices are in the router’s range, this still occurs.
- Slow Speeds: Even with my 200 Mbps internet package, I frequently get slower speeds, especially during busy times.
- Network Congestion: I occasionally get network congestion due to having a lot of devices connected, which interferes with online gaming and streaming.
What I’ve Attempting:
- Updating my modem’s and router’s firmware.
- Switching to a less crowded Wi-Fi channel.
- Putting the router in the middle of the room where it belongs.
- Prioritising specific devices on the router by turning on QoS (Quality of Service).
- To lessen the wireless load, I’m connecting my PCs & NAS over Ethernet.
- The problems still exist in spite of these attempts. I’m not sure if adding an interconnected mesh system or upgrading my equipment is the best course of action.
Enquiries:
- What advice would you provide me to improve the speed and connection of my current setup?
- In my situation, would it be wise to invest in a mesh network system?
- Are there any particular setups or settings that I might be missing that could help to resolve these problems?
- I have another question What is Salesforce CPQ. I know this is not related to my above query but since I heard this term I became curious to know about it. Can anyone give any brief idea about this?
Thank you in advance for your support and guidance.
